Best External Hard Drive Reviewed
Why is it that external hard drives are so much more durable than the hard drive on a computer? I’ve lost four desk top hard drives internal to my computer, but I have yet to have an external hard drive go bad on me. I just keep upgrading.
In this age of audio and video, and keeping files on our computers for 10 years or more (I’ve heard there’s a trash can, but I never use it, ha), if your documents and files are as critical to you as mine are to me, you must get an external hard drive….at least one.
My preferred model is the Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive. I own two of them and I’m just about to buy a third for my wife to use with her computers.
Why would I have two? Because I store all my files on the external hd, none on my computer. Then, at the end of the day, I run a backup of both my computer registry AND my Iomega drive.
So, here is an Amazon link (the best place to get the best price, even with free shipping) to the model I prefer. The largest external drive you could get used to be 500Mb, but I always say buy the biggest computer stuff you can afford. 1TB of space oughta keep you going for a while!
| This unit is really simple to install. I mean really easy. After you take it out of the box, and plug it into the wall, plug the other cord into your computer while you’re computer is turned off. Then, power up and your computer will see the new hardware. Just follow the instructions. the Iomega Prestige works with MAC or PC and gets my two thumbs up for sure. |
If you don’t have an external hard drive yet, this is your chance. Free shipping through Amazon of course.
